Thanks for saying all those nice things about me over on Twitter. The support has been incredible.
A lot of people have been asking why you should vote for me to be your new Mayor. I’ll tell you why right now.

Hey everyone! Yesterday on Twitter this became a thing, and while it seems like a joke, it’s a real thing. If you’re a San Francisco resident, please make Mat Honan your write-in candidate! I sadly am not, being over in Berkeley, but I’m helping in every way I can because I can’t think of another person who is more passionate and more knowledgeable about San Francisco - and more in love with that city. Not with politics. Not with his own glorification. But with the city, its well-being, its crazy residents, and making it a better, healthier, happier place to live.
Plus - and I say this with confidence - Mat is a really nice guy. A smart, good guy. The first time I met him, I was actually surprised by what a genuinely… well, genuine person he is. I thought he’d be another online smart interesting person who, in person, would be sort of a stand-offish jerk, but nope. He’s got a quality that makes you want to hang around him and find out more.
You all know I’ve had a rocky relationship with San Francisco. Of everyone I’ve ever known, Mat Honan makes me want to be a better San Franciscan. Vote Mat!

Call for photographers, artist, more: Help Mat & Harper!
By now, you’ve heard what happened to our friends Mat and Harper, thanks to the scam artist who bilked them out of $5100 in rent money - along with dozens of other San Francisco residents. And it’s not as if this is any old move for Mat and Harper: There’s a baby on the way!
What we do best, here on Tumblr, is help. So far, you guys have been wonderfully supportive during my own difficult time, and I know you go all out to raise money when anyone is in need. I haven’t needed any financial help (yet), but I know that if I did, you guys would be here for me.
There’s a general call to help our friends, thanks to Mike Monteiro. You can go that route.
I was also thinking that maybe some of us could do a little creative fundraising of our own. After all, you need art for your walls, and they need to get back the money to rent new walls.
So photographers, artists, more: Who would be interested in donating original artwork or prints to help raise money? I will happily donate prints. We can open a store or even an auction.
